India and China have signed an audio visual
co-production agreement during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to
India. The treaty was signed by Indian I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar
and Cai Fuchao, Minister for State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio,
Film and Television in China.
The proposed cooperation between India
and China includes co-production in feature films, documentaries and animation
films as well as import of Indian films into China.
Formalizing student exchange between
FTII/SRFTI and premier film institutes of China and Public Private Partnership
in Animation sector are also on the agenda.
The Joint Working Group constituted to
take concrete steps to advance this cooperation will meet on the
sidelines of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2014 at Goa and
would involve stakeholders from both the countries. It was also announced that
China will be the focus country at IFFI 2014.
Currently, India has co-production
agreements with France, Germany, Canada, UK, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Poland and
New Zealand.
